Day #6 ~Wednesday, April 21
We stopped for gas in Amarillo before heading off to CO and noticed something strange at the pump! Do you see anything unusual? That is, if you are from the east.... Look at the end of my post for the answer! :)
We saw lots of oil drilling rigs in Texas and some in OK and NM.
And LOTS of grain elevators!!
And grain bins....
Finally in New Mexico. I loved how rugged the scenery was, and the next moment there were majestic mountains! Just breathtaking....ride along....
Loved the mirages on the road!
We stopped at a rest area out in the boonies....
And this was the Sierra Grande....the pic doesn't do it justice, as was the case with most of the scenery pics I took! It looked way much bigger in real life!
Heed the warnings!! :)
Loved this scene!!
Now THIS looks like an old volcano!! The Sierra Grande didn't look as much like one as this one did.
Pronghorn antelope along the road....
The breathtaking Sangre de Cristo Mountains!!! The most beautiful ever!!
And then the scenery changed and there were flat top mountains!
We were hoping to see some Elk, but no such luck this time!
Yay!! We are in CO....the excitement was mounting. Now it's not "How much longer to CO", but "how much longer to Conrad's"??
Lots of sagebrush!!
Taking a break at a look out on one of the mountains!
Finally at the Riehls! We waited 3 LONG years to come see them!! :P So glad to finally see that dream become a reality!!
Cute lil Chakira!! <3
Dan helped Conrad finish up a shed he had to deliver the next day.
It didn't take the kids more than a few seconds to reconnect! :) They were so excited to see each other again!
Playing Snitch~
And ROOK!! Oh, yeah, we played Rook!! And Canasta and more Rook and MORE Canasta....just like old times!! :)
Remember this pic?? The octane numbers are different that in the east!! We have 87, 89 and 91? Just thought that was interesting!!
More updates coming..... :)
