~My Week~

It's always hard to get back into the routine of life when you get back from vacation! And we came back to a B.U.S.Y. week!

Monday night was our Young Ladies Encouragement Night at Heidi's house. I always look forward to that even though it falls on the Monday night Dan works late. I take the kids along and they hang out in the Weaver's school/play room. This time they actually had friends to play with! :)

Tuesday we had a morning of rain. In about 4 hours time we got more than 7 inches of rain!
I never saw our neighborhood get flooded so bad!
Our neighbors, Jonas and Emma's drive was under water most of the day!

The white house behind the brick one belongs to our elderly neighbors, the Alford's and they had water in their house. The wife has been paralyzed since soon after they were wed, and she is in a hospital bed, so they ended up taking her to the hospital to be cared for. They are in the process of replacing sheet rock and flooring now. Their son lives in the brick house and their daughter in a house in front of theirs (not in the picture)

69A was closed for part of the day since this bridge was under water!

And this is the part of that same creek that flows under 69. We live between 69 and 69A.

Tuesday evening we had our annual RHE Homeschool Open House. We set up tables with the curriculum we have used in the past and were there for people to ask questions about it.

We also had a table of supplies for sale. I was tickled to get the Teacher's manual for MFW for next year for only $10 instead of new for $95!! :)

Patty Melvin was our guest speaker and she talked about requirements for graduating a child from home school. That seems so far in the future, but I know it'll be here before I know it! :O

Friday our home school group had our first Park Day for the summer at Camel Lake!! :) It was a lovely day!
Sy-Sy fishing! :)

Danny was having fun pushing Anna in his little boat! :)

The day was slightly hampered by a fishing accident. Jed got a hook in his arm! Poor guy! But he was so brave and worked at getting it out himself. They ended up having to take him home because it wasn't coming out! :P He did better with the situation than I would have! I
m thankful for other Mom's who were there and have tougher stomach's than I do!!

The boys had a blast on this old air mattress!! :)

From the lake we went to Art class at church with Carol Yoder. This was their final class. We missed half of it during our trip, which was kind of a bummer, but the kids enjoyed what they did!

Saturday, Dan's boss took him and Danny deep sea fishing! Tamara and I went along to Panama City to drop them off then we spent the day shopping till it was time to pick them up again.

Danny caught a nice size Red Snapper, but had to throw it back since they are not in season! They thought it was about 6 lbs.

Chaplain Ring (the boss man) :) with his flounder.

The guys enjoyed chatting with the captain who they learned was a Christian. He let Danny steer the boat for a little while! :) OH Joy, for that Boy!! :)

Back on the dock...waiting to get their fish!

This is the "Treasure Ship" next to the Marina. They had a fire about a week or two ago. Sad to see such a cool landmark ruined. At this point they don't have plans to rebuild it!

Trip pics next....stay tuned!! :)

Spring=Outdoor work!!
So Dan had been working some long hours, but was able to have the afternoon off on Tuesday. He and the kids watered and fertilized the blooming azaleas and started watering the front yard. It had been awhile since we had any rain!

Tamara measured out the fertilizer into the watering cans.....

...then Danny filled them with water and watered the azaleas. I should take more pics...the blooms have opened and they look real pretty now!! :)

After the work was done, we let them play in the sprinkler Dan set up to water the yard. It was a warm 80 degree day!! :)

Dan throwing the ball for Mocha....

....and he brings it back!! :) He LOVES to play fetch! If you say, "Mocha, where's the ball", he'll go hunt it down and he usually remembers where he had it last!! :)

On Thursday the kids and I made strawberry jam and a strawberry pie! :)

They were such good and diligent helpers!!
Capping the strawberries....
Mixing the crushed strawberries and sugar.

The final product! :) I don't think I'll have to do any more jam this year. I thought I was getting low, but still have about this much left from last year, so we are in good shape! I do want to try another kind or two of jelly this year though....any suggestions of your favorite kinds??

We are staying home from church today. Tamara has been struggling with a cold since Friday and has had fever yesterday and this morning. It's a low fever, near 100, but she was also having headaches and dizzy spells. I think it's all sinus related. Wouldn't be surprised if it's what Dan had last weekend. Just hoping she gets better soon and that Danny and I don't get it! :P

We are counting down the days till our trip west! Only 5 more to go!! :) :) :)
But in the mean time....we have a group coming to do prison ministry this week. I will be sitting the one families 2 girls at least Monday and Tuesday, possibly Wed. and Thurs. too and I also need to make supper for the group one or two nights! So I won't be sitting around this week...will be so ready for the vacation!! :)

Have a blessed Lord's Day!!

Dan has been working MANY hours at the prison. With his position, he only gets paid for 40 hours regardless how many he works. However, he usually gets to take time off if it gets drastically over 40....which is happening right now! :P
So, Tuesday he got to come home at lunch. That was so nice since there were projects waiting to be done. We bought a "damaged box, reduced" ceiling fan at Lowes for the kitchen. That was the first project of the day and proved to be very involved...he had to crawl up in the attic to figure out the goofy wiring!! But he had a right hand helper who was in his glory!! :)

The finished product! :) I absolutely love it!! The fan has been a cool relief to a kitchen that gets the afternoon sun. And the lights....they are so BRIGHT!! :) :)

He also put a light in my oven hood!! :) For some reason it was taken out and we never pursued figuring out why....it was pretty simple and I am thrilled to have light at my stove!! :)

Tuesday night after supper, we dug up a "tomato garden".

Danny did a good job hoeing along the fence!

The kids have been having the greatest time playing in the dirt beside the house. They took all their big equipment out there.....and boy can they use their imaginations! :) We got some good video clips that will be fun to look back at in 10 years!! ;)

Creeping phlox in the front flower bed. Our azaleas we planted last spring are starting to bloom too! Yay!! :)

A new hummingbird feeder for the year...hoping to see some soon. I might have put it out a little early!??

My friend Kay had gallbladder surgery on Monday so today I wanted to return the favor of babysitting in a time of need! She is always so willing to help me out!

Lydia and Tamara spent most of the day in Tamara's room playing with Polly Pockets, dress-up clothes, etc....

Danny and Dylan convinced me to let them ride the mower around the yard....I should have made them mow!! :)

Later I found them out in the garage making a sailboat! :) (Final pic coming whenever my computer allows my camera to load it's pictures! :P)

Sylas and I had fun playing with Mocha! Sy-Sy was telling him to "drop it" and Mocha would drop his broken up hamburger squeaky toy.....

....the Sylas would throw it, Mocha would retrieve it and on and on we went! :)

Happy Sylas!! :)

I made supper for Roy & Kay and then took the kids back home. They all had a fun day!

This evening I started mowing....here we go again!! :) I enjoyed watching 3 deer in the pasture behind the house while I was mowing. They seemed oblivious to the fact that someone was motoring around in the yard near them. I think they were enjoying that new luscious spring grass!! :)

My dear hubby is not feeling so hot! Actually, he is hot (in more ways than one!! ;) <3 ) He has a fever, the aches and chills! Praying he feels better in the morning. He took some Nyquil and went to bed early. He's been fighting this since Wed. morning. First he thought it was congestion due to the attic dust and dust at the prison (they had a small fire and just got done with remodeling and he's been moving furniture back into the offices). But it seems it might be more. Just hoping he feels better soon. I hate to see him suffering!

Well, I think I'll quit typing....the click, click, click seems to disturb his sleep some. Have a blessed end of the week!! :)

~A First~ & ~ A Baby Shower~

Today was a beautiful spring day all across the country, it sounded like! We had in the low 60's with a nice breeze....a perfect day for drying wash. I had done all but the towels yesterday, so this morning I got them out on the line nice and early!

Finally around 3 I decided to bring the towels in so I could make supper and still have plenty of time to get ready to go to a baby shower tonight. As I was walking away from the clothesline, I noticed smoke coming out of a pipe at the shop next door. I thought it strange, and looked again. That's when I realized the smoke was not coming out the pipe, but out along the edge of the roof!!! :O And about the time I realized that, I heard a loud POP! I knew nobody was over there, because the gate was shut. So I quickly ran my wash inside, grabbed the phone and ran back outside to be sure I wasn't seeing things.
By the time I got back outside I was *smelling* the smoke! So I quickly called 911.....(that's were "a first" comes in.....I've never had to do that before and I was shaking!!) :O Then I called the neighbor who owns the shop and told his wife that the shop was on fire!!

This is what it looked like after I got off the phone.....the smoke was pouring out the opposite side of the shop because of the direction of the wind!

It seemed to take F.O.R.E.V.E.R. for the firetrucks to get there......it really didn't take very long!!

BUT, the gate was locked!! :O Thankfully they have tools for occasions like that!

Finally in....

The fire was small, mostly contained to a garbage can! Don't know for sure what started it?? Just so glad it wasn't worse...I sure didn't know what they were going to find!

I got a kick out of this old truck....it was the first one on the scene, though!! :)

**BABY SHOWER**

Tonight I was invited to a baby shower for my friend Beth's daughter Bekah. A couple of us ladies from church rode together. They are expecting a baby boy soon! :)

Visiting and snacking.....

Cute onesies made by Bekah's sis-in-law, Amy!! :) The cutest one was the one Beth is holding with a yellow tie on the front!! :)

Well, Dan is finished with school till the summer semester, so I am looking forward to some great evening's together!! If I can stay home once! LOL!!
Ya'll have a good night~

About a year ago or more, we discussed how nice it would be to put a storm door in the front of our house. I enjoy having doors open in the spring and fall and we also needed more air flow since our living room windows are missing screens. So we decided to use our tax refund last year and purchase one. Didn't happen! LOL! We talked about it again this year and my hubby so kindly took me shopping to Lowes :)

This week, Rocky Weaver came and installed it for us! I am loving it already!! And so is the dog. He can lay outside the door and see what's going on inside. Before, he was only hearing noises! :)

This isn't a real good picture, but you get an idea what it looks like....

We've been having some gorgeous spring days. Dan came home early yesterday since he worked a 12 hour day on Monday. We enjoyed some time outside playing with the dog and grilling burgers for supper!

~Mocha~ just waiting for someone to play ball with him. Whenever you step outside, he goes and finds his ball and brings it to you! We got him to obey "Drop it" and he'll drop it at your feet and then we throw it for him. He runs SO fast. One day I need to get a video of him playing fetch!

Dan reading his school textbook while grilling burgers :) He's on the final countdown of the semester. He will be taking the lat part of the semester off and his deadline for this class is tomorrow night. He is hoping to take his test and be done tonight yet!
I can hardly wait!! :)

The children had their bikes out and were "racing" invisible people. :)

At bedtime last night, the kids were supposed to be getting pajama's on and here this old man walks out of Danny's room. :) I'd say he goes to the opposite extreme of those guys who wear their britches near the ground!! ;)

I finally got a call from my doctor today! The results of the tests are great. Everything they checked looks to be in fine shape! :) I am still going to keep my cardiologist appointment for March 29. They will be doing a stress test and I will have to wear an event monitor for a week, whenever one comes available.
She said my gall bladder looks fine and that's what I was concerned was the problem. So now I'm not sure what to think. But I am going to let it in God's hands unless I have more or worse symptoms, then we might consider checking into other possibilities.

Tomorrow morning we are going to do some shoe shopping in Tall. then planning to meet Dan's mom for lunch. She is coming down to south GA to pick up Dan's uncle and take him up to live with them for a week. From there we are going to spend the rest of the day and part of Saturday with my sister and her family!! :) Always fun times!!

I know I haven't posted on here lately and may try to do some updates sometime soon. But don't hold your breath! Life is busy.... :) Goodnight~
